Good to know

We may be biased, but we think this is the best place on the river ;) #1 Feature: We are directly on the crystal clear waters of the Weeki Wachee River! And we're located just around the corner from the famous "Hospital Hole" where the manatees congregate in droves. We are far enough up river that the water is almost always crystal clear. There's even a nice beach area to sit in the water as manatees swim by and a preserve across the river giving you extra privacy and more connection with the wildlife and a more natural feel for the wild river. This house has been fully renovated inside and out. The whole interior has be remodeled with quality flooring, furniture and a great neutral color scheme. The outside has beautiful concrete interlocking pavers surrounding the property, including the driveway, wrap around walkways and full river patio space for all of your guests to enjoy the open feel on the water. As if that's not enough, there's a small beach area to grab some of the provided lawn chairs and sit on the shallow shores and soak up the sun while the natural spring fed waters keeps you cool... or warm in the winter months. The water temperature is 74 degrees all year round. Weeki Wachee Springs State Park is a five mile drive away (take in the world famous mermaid show and the river boat tour). We are located 5.5 miles from the head of the river, so you have plenty of river to enjoy going against the flow. Roger's Park is a half mile down river from us and the Gulf of Mexico is another 2 miles down river from there. Weeki Wachee River produces 120 to 170 million gallons of clear fresh 74 degree water per day and is home to a very diverse wildlife population. We've actually seen a family of deer cross the river in front of us while we were canoeing - what a treat that was! There are river otters, manatees, dolphins, a wide variety of fish, birds and many many more wonderful species that call our area home. Bullet Point House Features: *Directly on the river and far enough up river to have clear waters *Fully remodeled inside and out *New interlocking concrete paver driveway, walkways and patios on the river *Plenty of seating inside and out *House looks at the nature preserve across the river, to enjoy the trees and birds. *Four bedrooms (new beds/mattresses) and three baths, with 6 beds to sleep 12 guests *Screened in porch overlooking the main river lets you enjoy the fresh air while shaded and protected from possible rain *The use of four adult single kayaks and a three person canoe (life vests and paddles included) that are stored and launched from our private shores *TVs in the living room, porch, and two bedrooms. Each TV has DirecTV (with the Go Big channel package which includes the sports channels), Hulu, Disney+, HBO Max and Amazon Prime TV.... pretty much every show and channel you can think of - there's more content than you could ever watch in a lefetime *Gas grill *Fire pit (wood not provided) *Onsite parking for six cars (please arrange other parking arrangements if there will be more than six cars) *Tie off available for a boat *Washer and Dryer

House Rules

Please respect our home and neighbors as you would your own. 1) Please - no fires of any kind, such as smoking or candles inside the house. Smoking outside is permitted as long as you throw all cigarette butts in the trash and keep the ashes in the ash trays. 2) Do not open the locked master bedroom closet as this is where cleaning staff supplies are stored. 3) Clean spills immediately to prevent floor damage. 4) No pets. 5) The age requirement for the guest booking the reservation is 25 years or older. The person booking must be at the house during the reservation. 6) Quiet after 10PM and even quieter after 11PM. Remember, this is a residential neighborhood and volume levels should accommodate this. Laughing, kids playing, and music at a reasonable volume is okay, but the county has a sound ordinance after 11PM that will be enforced. Please be mindful of our neighbors. If your group is looking to party loud up until the late hours of the night, this house is not for you - there will more than likely be difficulties.

Other Details to Note

Please be mindful of our neighbors as we do care for them and respect their space as well. We do hope never to have to deal with violations of sound ordinances as this does cause evictions. Please, no loud voices, music or any sounds after 11 PM. Any guests staying overnight above and beyond the number paid for within the reservation will be charged a penalty of $50 per person per night. We reserve the right to terminate your stay without a refund if you exceed the maximum occupancy for your paid reservation. No pets allowed. Unfortunately, not even service animals as we have health issues that prohibited this for our own health in homes we use personally.

Accessibility and Availability

Neighborhood

The neighborhood is quiet with sidewalks throughout. We have one neighbor to each side of us but none across the river. We are close to Roger's Park where you can launch your boat. We have many great local restaurants and franchise restaurants nearby. A message with a list of all of our favorite restaurants and activities in the area will be sent after your reservation is made.

Guest Access

You have access to the whole house except for the storage shed outside and a locked closet inside where supplies and personal items are stored.

We’ve stayed on the river 3 times, 3 different houses and this was my favorite. It was very clean, great location, easy to find… spacious and comfortable. The neighbor to the left is also very friendly so that’s a plus as well. We will definitely stay here again in the future.

We absolutely had the best stay at the Sasquatch Hideaway and Jeff and Lisa are great hosts! The home is located right on the main river and the water was so clear and beautiful. This place is perfect for multiple families, a large family or even a group of friends and has everything you need. We felt at home and it was such a fun and peaceful weekend getaway.

Jeff was a fantastic host he really keeps the high standard for Airbnb hosts. The beds were so cozy. Pillows perfect. Host was very responsive and handled anything that came up which was only a couple minor issues, like a true professional. The house was exactly how it is pictured. Got to see plenty of manatees right from the dock and even river otter! Terrific time!!!!! True vacation! Thank you !

One of my favorite places on Earth. I just loveeeee this property and home. It is super clean, spacious, fun and cozy. The location doesn’t get better. Sitting next to the river as the sun rises and I drink my coffee, listening to the magical sounds of FL nature, is heaven on Earth. We have stayed here for 4 years and just booked again. The hosts are amazing. Communication is always clear and warm. This property gets my highest recommendation and review. It’s a precious gem.

Jeff’s home is spacious and clean. The patio overlooks a crystal clear spring fed lazy River and forest with abundant fish and wildlife to view. The neighborhood is quiet. Throughout the day people cross up and down the river on kayaks and SUPs. There were 5 or 6 kayaks and a canoe available to use and a barbecue.

Jeff was great about answering questions and providing information before we left for our highly anticipated Florida manatee viewing trip. But the day of the trip, we had a volcanic eruption that canceled our flight. Trying to book from Hawaii was a bear with the bad weather in the Midwest, but our friends made it to the house and had a wonderful time! We had to cancel. We were in regular contact with Jeff and he was very flexible and understanding. Based on my friends’ photos and texts, they loved the house and would book there again instantly. We hope to book again with Jeff again soon!
